  3. Source:Draper, James. History of Spencer, Massachusetts, from Its Earliest Settlement to the Year 1860, p. 143, says Doct. James Ormes m. (1) 1733 Frances Hinds of Brookfield, and then m. (2) 1736 Rachel Howe of Malden. However, the Leicester records only given an intention of marriage in 1733, and Brookfield records show nothing for such a couple. Further, Frances Hinds m. 1734 Seth Banester, according to Brookfield records. There is only one birth of Frances Hinds found, and no death record for a Frances Orms, and no record of any children born to James and Frances. So, barring additional evidence being presented, it appears the marriage never actually was completed.

Similarly, the marriage in 1736 to Rachel How of [History of Spencer says Malden, but the Leicester record says Marlborough] is only an intention, and likewise, no mention of this is found in [either Malden nor Marlborough]. Further, Marlborough records show Rachel How of Marlborough m. Isaac Ball in 1738. Further no death of Rachel Orms, nor any children born to James and Rachel are found. So, again, it appears the marriage was never completed.

The marriage in 1742 to Tabitha Wright appears to be the only actual marriage. Besides the intention in Leicester, a marriage record is found in Framingham, and the births of children are found in Leicester and Spencer.
