James Oscar was a brother of William Henry, therefore a son of Miles Jennings and Sarah Elizabeth Freeman, and the grandson of Jennings Nix and his second wife Temperance (Tempy) Poole Ellison. He is three and a half years younger that William. James met and married a lady with at least two generations of Texas parents. Her name was Beulah Emma Gregg, and her mother was named Matilda Emma Roe. Both are South Carolina names but no connection has been made to date. They had five children; Oscar Wellch, Roy Velvin, Charlie Miles Edith Jewel, and Delores Ella. James was 32 when he registered for the draft at Ashtola, Donley County, Texas. This small town is located on Highway 287 between Clarendon in the East and Claude in Armstrong County to the West Also along this road is Goodnight Texas another prominent locale for this branch of the Nix family. This area is located Northern part called the Texas panhandle, between Oklahoma and New Mexico. He was described by the Draft Board as: Height - Medium, Build - Medium, eyes - Brown, and Hair -- Brown. And like many of the other Nix males he was a farmer. James Oscar died in 1966 and is buried in Abilene, Taylor County, Beulah Emma died four years earlier in 1962 in the same location.
