McGill, James Born (There is still some doubt whether this man died in Kentucky or in Indiana. The grave location, however, looks so positive that I am inclined to think it is correct even if the American Legion did err in calling him William instead of James; they have the date correct, the same as James' date of death.) Born ca 1752; died 9-20-1834, Washington County, Indiana; buried in the Livonia Cemetery, Grave 3, Row 7, Lot 6, Section 1, Madison Township, Washington County, Indiana. According to Ted McGill at email SINEFINE@@aol.com He states the following: I need to correct a long-standing error in your county materials. My ancestor, James McGill, 1755-1834, correctly appears in Revolutionary War records. He married Sarah Broshears and they had twelve children. HOWEVER, he did NOT die in Washington County, Indiana. In fact, I have never seen any documentary evidence showing that he actually lived in Washington County. He did live briefly in Jefferson County and was engaged in buying and selling land in Scott County, but not in Washington County. He had moved to Indiana about 1826, and returned to Kentucky about 1832. His estate is recorded in Pendleton County, Kentucky. Please do all you can to correct the web page and any other documents regarding my ancestor. I'll be happy to hear by email from anyone who wants additional information about him. Thanks! Ted McGill Married 20 Dec 1775, Sarah Broshears. Children (12, Incl. ages in 1820): Thomas (no age); Samuel 14; William 12; Anthony 9; Israel 7. Pension application 1 Jun 1818, Bracken County, Kentucky; again 9 Sep 1820, ae 68, Bracken County, Kentucky; wife ae 58. On 13 Aug 1829, Jefferson County, Indiana, he says he has lately moved here from Kentucky, because all his children live here. Widows pension application 29 Jan 1838, Pendleton County, Kentucky, ae 79. Says husband drew pension in Bracken County, Kentucky and later lived in Pendleton County, Kentucky, till 1828 "when he removed from said Pendleton County, Kentucky to the State of Indiana and settled in Jefferson County, Indiana. And while he lived in Indiana he drew his pension at Coradon (Corydon Agency MRW) in that state until shortly before his death, and after his death she removed back from the state of Indiana to Pendleton County, Kentucky in order to live with son Thomas McGill and that she now resides in Pendleton County, Kentucky." Service Enlisted in Pennsylvania, 8th Pennsylvania Regiment; Colonel Enos McCoy; was a Sergeant.
