  4. ↑ His brother Thomas came to New England "when a small boy" (NEHGR 5:407), so it is likely that James was also born in Great Britain (possibly Wales), but it is possible he was born in New England, in which case it might have been Lynn, where his father was in 1651 (NEHGR 5:414b). However, the ironworks at Lynn was not operating until 1646 (Wikipedia), so it seems unlikely that the Leonard brothers were in New England until then.
