21. Note: the following was published in the North Carolina Journal Monday February 6, 1797: (858) Twenty dollars Reward. Stolen from the subscriber, on Tuesday night, the 14th of January. (at Jacob Coker's a bay Mare. I believe she was stolen by a certain Young Philips who has been missing since that time -is light complected about five feet five inches high.... is a turner by trade, very talkative and fond of dring. I will give the above reward for the thief and mare, or one half for either.....
