From the Waterville Empire Press 7 June 1923 James Herron of Orondo has been notified of this appointment from this congressional district as cadet t the West Point Military Academy. Congressman J. Stanley Webster made the appointment. Jim received his education at Orondo, Waterville, Seattle and two years at the State University. This is the first time a Douglas county boy has been successful in getting and qualifying for this place. He is to be at West Point 1 July.


Waterville Empire Press 23 Sep 1976: ORONDO NEWS: Mr. James Harron of Seattle, a resident of Orondo several years ago, spent last Thursday visiting with Mr. John H. D. Smith and Mrs. Elsie Stannard and Mrs. Willa Zanol.

After he left Orondo in the 20s he attended West Point Military Academy and then pursued an Army career. He is now retired and lives in an apartment in Seattle.
