    (92) James Hamilton, said to be third son of John, Archbishop of St. Andrews (No. 87). He is describes as “of Coats” when he received a respite in 1550 (Great Seal). He is said to be father of :-
    (93) Paul Hamilton of Coats, Captain of Arran, who had a charter of Coats, Old Monkland, 31st December 1608. He married Margaret, daughter of James Hamilton of Stanehouse, and died s.p. He apparently had two nephews:-
    (a) Andrew (No. 94).
    (b) Patrick (No. 95).
