Information on James Green

Note: an IGI submission claims that James Green's parents were William Green and Lucy Blackwell, but several another submissions have William Green born on 18 Jan. 1755 (some in 1744) in Middlesex County, Virginia and his marriage with Lucy Blackwell on 13 May 1775 in Fauquier County, VA, ruling them out as possible parents. (more research/sources necessary).

Last Will of James Green, Sr.
In the name of God amen, I die. Item I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Elizabeth Green my Black mare together with my present stock of cattle also the household and kitchen furniture except two beds and furniture also I bequeath her fifty pounds in money to be disposed of as she may think best at her death.
Item - I give and bequeath unto my son Wm. Green five pounds in money.
Item - I give and bequeath unto my son Henry Green five pounds in money.
Item - I give and bequeath to my son Edward Green five pounds in money.
Item - I give and bequeath to my daughter Mary Stewart five pounds in money.
Item - I give and bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth Armstrong five pounds in money.
Item - I give and bequeath to my son James Green five pounds in money.
Item - I give and bequeath to my daughter Jane Stewart five pounds in money.
Item - I give and bequeath to my daughter Sally Green one good horse saddle and bridle, one good bed and furniture.
Item - I give and bequeath to my daughter Margaret Green one good horse saddle and bridle, one good bed and furniture.
I give and bequeath to my son Samuel Green one dark chestnut sorrel stud colt and twenty pounds in money.
I give and bequeath to my two sons John Green and Thomas Green my two black horses the black with a snip to John and the black with the bald face to Thomas the farm utensils with the two wagons and gear to be equally divided between John and Thomas also the present crop of hemp and corn all that can be spared from the use of the family to be sold and the money to be equally divided between John and Thomas.
Also the money that is due in Virginia after the other estate has received their legacy, the balance if any to be divided equally between John and Thomas Green.
Also, John and Thomas Green are to support my wife Elizabeth Green decently during her natural life.
Also Sally and Margaret Green are to have their maintenance with them so long as they remain single or thin proper to live with them in family.
I also have my two sons John Green and William Green Executors.
This has been my last Will and testament, being in my right mind in testimony I here unto set my hand and seal.
