Information from D. Sangster. Isabella, eldest daughter of Rev. J.W. Thomson, married Rev. James Watson Geddie, minister of Free Church, Ceres, 12aug1863 at Pitcairngreen Free Church Manse (Caledonian Mercury). James W. Geddie was b. 17nov1833 at Kennoway, Fife, son of David Geddie and Margaret Gowans (IGI). In 1881 James W. Geddie (1834 Kennoway, Fife, minister Banff Free Ch), wife Isabella (1834 Monedie, Perthshire), children David W. (1865 Ceres, Fife) and, b. Banff, John W.T. (1866), Mary M. (1868), Laura H. (1875), were at Banff (census). In 1891 Rev. James W. Geddie (1834) and Isabella were at Banffshire (census). In 1891 Rev. James Watson Geddie, who was ordained in 1861, was minister of Free Church, Banff (web). On death, 13apr1919, of James Watson Geddes, 93 Lesswood Pl., Aberdeen, retd Free Church minister, beneficiaries were John Forbes Moncrieff, CA, Edinburgh, and James David Lumsden, bleacher, Pitcairnfield, Perthshire, and Robert Hope Robertson (GWR shares, findmypast). A painting by Robert Brough of “dour old Scotch preacher, Rev. James Watson Geddie" was exhibited in 1907 (Times).
