Information from “Virginia/West Virginia Genealogical Data from Revolutionary War Pension and Bounty Land Warrant Records”, Vol. 2, compiled by Patrick G. Wardell, Lt. Col. U.S. Army Ret. :
- Deakins, James - entered service at Westmoreland Court House, Virginia; born 11/14/1754 in Prince George County, Virginia; abt. 16 years after Revolutionary War moved to Tennessee, thence to Fairfield Township, Franklin County, Indiana, where granted Pension in 1834 & where he died 7/20/1834; married 4/1782 or 7/1782 to Martha Brand, Westmoreland County, Virginia, who was born 12/6/1765; widow granted Pension 1840 in Franklin County, Indiana; widow resided 1853 in Andrew County, Missouri, & granted Bounty Land Warrant there in 1855; children's births: John 7/20/1783, Alice 4/29/1785, William 6/28/1796, Marcha 11/30/1802, Elizabeth 11/17/1804, Nicholas 1/12/1807; affidavit made in 1840 by Mary Blackmore age 36 in Andrew County, Missouri, that she was daughter of soldier's daughter Alice; soldier's surname also spelled Deakans, Deakens; query letter in file states soldier's widow died in Andrew County, Missouri.
