Will Transcript
- In the name of God, Amen. I, James Damewood of the county of Craig being frail and weak in body but of sound mind & memory for which I thank God, caling to mind the uncertainty of humane life & being, desires to dispose of such worldly estate as it has pleased God to bless me with, I give and bequeath the same in manner following:
- 1st I desire my burying & funeral expenses to be paid,
- 2nd I desire all my just debts to be paid,
- 3rd I desire all my landed estate & personal property to remain in the hands of my wife Mary Damewood & my son Anderson M. Damewood & my daughter Luiza Damewood during my wife Mary life, & then I give & bequeath my home plantation & all other lands except the land I bought of Christopher Marion: the home tract & the one below joining I give and bequeath to my son Anderson M. Damewood & my daughter Luiza Damewood after my wife Mary death & the balance of my land & personal property after my wife Mary death I want equaly divided among my children, except my daughter Seala Caldwell her heirs I give & bequeath One dollar & after my wife Mary death I desire the part coming to my son Erastus Damewood to go to my Granddaughter Amanda Damewood.
- I appoint my friend Michael P. Spessard my executor of this my last will & testament in witness whereof I have set my hand and affix my seal this 7th day of November 1859
