U.S. Army Ret. : Anderson, James, alias Asher Crockett, entered service 1778 in Hampshire County, Virginia; born there 9/1760; granted Pension 1832 in Cabell County, Virginia; medical certificate from Montgomery County, Virginia, shows soldier used name of Asher Crockett when married there to Sarah Blankenship on 9/11/1800 & enlisted under the name of James Anderson; soldier died 1/16/1845 at Millers Fork, Wayne County, Virginia; widow granted Pension age 69, Wayne County, Virginia & died there 9/9/1862 leaving children: Andrew Crockett, Elizabeth (wife of Joseph Kelly), & Charlotte (wife of Edward Miller); son Andrew J. Crockett resided 1877 in Wayne County, West Virginia; query letter in file in 1900 from descendant Gertrude Crockett, Kansas City, Missouri. R56. References
