He married Martha Jane (Givens) Young, daughter of james Kerr and Elizabeth R. (Christian) Givens, and widow of John Thomas Young, in 1872. She was born on 14 July 1842 in Hopkins Co., Ky., a grandaughter of Thomas and Elizabeth (Kerr) Givens, and of Matthew Campbell and Jane (Black) Christian, and a great-granddaughter also of James and Jean (Robertson) Kerr Jr., and Patrick and Elizabeth (Robertson) Grhistian. They were twice second cousins, through their mutual Kerr and Christian family descents. References
