Notes

James Brownlee was named in his father, Alexander Brownlee's Revolutionary War Pension File as his "son and only heir", in Botetourt County, Virginia in 1845; he received a Pension and Bounty Land Warrant. His father, Alexander was killed in the Battle of Guilford Courthouse, fought on 15 March 1781.

James Brownlee was listed in the 1840 U.S. Census in Botetourt County, making it very likely that he was the same James Brownlee listed in the Revolutionary War Pension File, listed above.
