Know Ye that whereas James Brownfield of the County of Champaign and State of Illinois and intestate as it is said on about the sixth day of August 1835 - having at the time of his decease personal property in this state which may be lost, destroyed or diminished in value if speedy care be not taken of the same, to the end therefore that the said property may be collected and preserved for those show shall appear to have a legal right or interest therein.
We do hereby appoint James Clements of the County of Champaign and State of Illinois Administrator of all and singular the goods and chattles, rights and ????? which are(?) of the said James Brownfield at the time of his decease, with full power and authority and ???? wheresoever the same may be found in the state and in general to do and perform all other acts which now are or were after may be required of him by law.

Know all men by these presents (those present?) that we James Clements, John Brownfield, and Benjamin Brownfield of the County of Champaign and State of Illinois are held and firmly bound unto the People of the State of Illinois in the penal sum of One thousand dollars current money of the United States which payment will(?) and ???? to be made and perfomed we and each of us ??? ourselves our heirs executors administrators and abiding ????? severally and firmly by these presents, ?????? ourhands and seals this fifth day of October AD 1835 -
The condition of the above obligation is such that if the said James Clements Administrator of all and singular the goods and chattles, rights and ????? of James Brownfield deceased do make or cause to be made a true and ????? inventor(?) of all and singular the the goods and chattles rights(?) and credits(?) of the said deceased which shall come to the ????? ?????? or knowledge of him the said James Clements is such administrator or to the ????? of any ???? or persons for him and the same so much do enlist(?) or cause is ?? ?????? in the court of Probate or the Said county of Champaign ???????? to ??? and such goods and chattles rights and credits ?? ??? ??? ????? administer according to law and are the best of the said goods and chattles rights and credits which shall ??????? ??????? when the account of the said administrator ?? same ???? first(?) examined(?) and allowed by the Court of Probate.
Shall deliver and ??? into such person or persons respectively as may be legally entitled hereto and further(?) make a ??? and here account of ??? ??? actions and doings therein when hereunto required by the said Court and if at ????? hereafter appear that any last will and testament now made by the deceased and the same be proved in court and letters testamentary or of administration be obtained thereon and the said James Clements do in such case on being required thereto render and deliver up the letter of administration granted to him as aforesaid ~

In motion of John Mallory, James Clements is appointed guardian for the minor children of Elizabeth Mallory and one of the heirs of James Brownfield deceased he being chosen by Robert and Sam Brownfield who are above the age of fourteen years of age, he having entered into bond together with John Brownfield and Joseph Brownfield as his securities(?) which bond is now approved and recorded in Book ? page 1??
Ordered that James Clements administrator of James Brownfield deceased pay to Mary Brownfield wife of said deceased $5.35 ?? being the balance sum ?? on her dower in said estate, and to the other h??? the court then a??? to m??? at 9 O??? ?? on the 6th ????, See Page 37 (or 57?)

Mitnep(?) outhunds(?) and seals this fifthday of March AD 1838.
The condition of this obligation is such that if the above bound James Clements who has been appointed guardian for Robert Brownfield, Samuel Brownfield, James Mallory, Mary Mallory, and Nacy Jane Mallory. Shall faithfully discharge the office and trust of such Guardian according to law and shall render a fair and just account of said Guardianship to the Court of Probate for the County of Champaign from time to time as he shall be therunto required by said Court and comply with all orders of Said court lawfully made relative to the goods ???? and moneys of such minor? all goods and ??????? ???? papers and effects which may come to the hands or possession of such Guardian belonging to such minors when such minor shall be thereunto entitled or to any subsequent guardian should such court so direct then this obligation to be void otherwise to remain infull forer(?) and virtue.

Probate Court May term 1843 -
James Clements administrator of James Brownfield deceeased and Guardian for the minor heirs of said deceased came and presented the receipts of Joseph Brownfield and Robert Brownfield in full for the sum of Sixty six dollars and ?? cts being of the amount of the distribution share of said heirs, also produced satisfactory testimony that he had paid Mary Brownfield widow of said deceased five dollars 35 cents infull of her dower, also that Elizabeth Mallory, one of the heirs of said deceased received in part of her dower $60.00
also John Brownfield one of the said deceased received of his dower the sum of $58.00
