James A. Board Insurance Broker

    A memorial service for James A. Board, a founding partner of the Boccert Board Higgins & Kitz life-insurance brokerage firm in Sacramento, will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday in the Sierra Arden Church, 890 Morris Ave.
    Mr. Board, 73, died of heart failure Monday at his Sacramento home.
    An estate and insurance adviser in the Sacramento area for 42 years, he was an agent with the Penn Mutual Life Insurance Co. in Sacramento until starting the brokerage firm, which represents Penn Mutual in Sacramento.
    The Visalia native was raised in Lodi and attended the College of the Pacific in Stockton.  After serving with the Army Signal Corps during World War II, he remained with the Army Reserves until retiring as a colonel.
    A Sacramento resident for more than 45 years, he was a former president of the Sacramento Association of Life Underwriters and a member of the Sacramento Rotary and Comstock clubs and Valley Hi Country Club.
    Mr. Board is survived by his wife of 46 years, Priscilla F. Board of Sacramento; sons, James E. of Baton Rouge, La., and Arthur L. of Sacramento; a sister Florence Winto of Stockton; and four grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Ann Board; and a sister Jeanne Spaulding.
    Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday in the Nauman & Son Chapel, 4041 Freeport Blvd.
    The family requsts that any remembrances be made to the American Heart Association, 2007 O St., Sacramento, 95814.
