"4 James Bigge (Richard, John, Richard, Roger) was born probably about 1530 at Cranbrook, Kent. He himself settled in Capell which is about ten miles northwest of Cranbrook. James, like many of the rest of his family, seems to have been in the cloth trade, which at that time was flourishing in Cranbrook and nearby towns. He died at an early age, leaving three small children. His wife was named Anne. He made his will 31 May 1562. It was proved a year later on 27 May 1563. Altho the will does not say he was sick, he must have been expecting to die soon. He entrusted most of his estate to his brother Gervase of Cranbrook."
