To Wife, Sally M. Bell, mare, saddle, bridle, 2 cows, 1 bed, spinning wheel and chist [chest].
To my son, David M., whatever part of my father's estate is due me.
To my daughter, Polly Ann, all my clothes except one Regimental Coat and cocked hat which is to be sold.
Executors: Wife Sally, Father, William Bell Senr.
Witnesses: James Kerr, Senr., Samuel Leming, James Kerr.

Monday 25th July 1814, Will proven by James Kerr Senr. Samuel Liming and John Kerr, and ordered to be recorded. Thomas Temple & Josiah Clawson Securities for Sally M. Bell & William Bell Senr. Exrs. &c. in the amount of $800. & Exrs. Qualified (Mins. 7, pg. 275).
Will: In the name of God Amen, Be it remembered that I James C. Bell of the County of Greene and State of Tennessee &c. considering the uncertainty of this mortal life, and being of a perfect sound mind and memory (blessed be God for the same) Do make and publish this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following (that is to say).
First I give and bequeath unto my beloved Wife Sally M. Bell the following Articles, to wit the brown mare, her saddle and bridle and two Cows (which she is to choose herself), One bedstead cord bedin[g] and furniture, one spinning Wheel, one chist [chest], and all the Cubert [Cubbard] furniture, also one chair, two sheep also one oven and lid.
I also give and bequeath unto my son David M. Bell and my daughter Polly Ann Bell all my clothes Such of them as can bee [sic] made for my said daughter to wear and the rest for my said son David, except one Regimental coat and cocked hat which are to [be] sold as after directed. I also give and bequeath to my said son David whatever part of my fathers Estate may fall to me.
I also order that the balance of my property be [sold?] and is hereby directed to be sold by way of Vandue [Vendue] which is as follows one horse colt, some horned Cattle, some hogs, one bedstead bed and furniture, four chairs, some barrels, measures and farming tools, also one table together with some other things all of which I will to be sold and my debts paid out of the money and the rest of the money put out intrust for the use of said children when [they] come of age, and said money I will to my two children David and Polly to be equally divided between them.
I also give and bequeath unto my beloved Wife one smoothing Iron and all my books, all of which is my will and Testament.
I also will and appoint my wife Sally M. Bell and my father William Bell Senior the sole Executors or administraters [administrators] of this my last Will and Testament.
In witness Whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the fifth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fourteen.

Signed, Sealed, published and declared by the above named James C. Bell to be his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who at his request and at his presence have hereunto subscribed our names as Witnesses to the same.
