James Barker1 was "born at Stragewell in Low Suffolk in Old England," as he says in his will, and was one of the earliest settlers of Rowley, Mass., being made a freeman Oct. 7, 1649. His first wife, Grace, came with him. She died, and was buried in Rowley Feb. 27, 1665. He married, secondly, widow Mary Waite May 22, 1666. In his will he called George Kilbourn "brother."
