James Jim DeArmond Arnold, on Monday, Jan. 9, 2012, died peacefully in his sleep at the age of 80. He is survived by three children, James D. Arnold Jr., Daniel W. Arnold, and Tammy S. Cooper; two daughter in-laws; a son-inlaw; eight grandchildren; and Brother Eugene K. Arnold. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy as an Executive Officer, Navigator, Personnel Officer, Communications and Operations Officer, in the Pacific and Korea with honorable discharge. Jim graduated a Jayhawk with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and a Master's Degree in Public Administration from the University of Kansas. He enjoyed a distinguished career in public administration in the cities of Florissant, MO, Charleston, SC, Cameron, MO, Ferguson, MO, Arvada, CO, and Bridgeton, MO. Professional achievements and honors include: 1st recipient of the Jay T. Bell Award presented by the Missouri City Management Association, Executive Director of the Missouri Municipal League, President of the Missouri City Management Association, and President of the St. Louis County City Managers Association. Services: A private cremation was held in St. Louis. A memorial service will be held at the Immanuel United Church of Christ, 221 Church St. Ferguson, MO, on Sat. Feb. 11, 2 pm. Memorial offerings may be made to the church.
