Jakob Schweyer, third surviving son of Johann Schweyer and Margaretha Moritz, was born November 11, 1842 in Zuzzendorf in Alsace, France. When his family emigrated to Rainham, he was approximately 11 years of age. Jakob married Margaretha Fess, daughter of Solomon Fess and Margaretha Louise Klein. Margaretha was born May 27, 1847 in Zillingen in Lorraine, France. The couple were married March 17, 1868 at the presently named Trinity Lutheran Church in Fisherville. Jakob and Margaretha lived with Jakob's parents on the original Schweyer farm on the 4th concession of Rainham Twp.. Together they farmed the land and raised 10 children. They took care of Jakob's father Johann in his later years, and upon his death they continued to operate the farm, which Jakob eventually handed over to his son, Jacob William, more commonly known as Will. Jakob parted this world on June 29, 1908 at the age of 65. Margaretha passed away August 20, 1933. She was 87 years old at the time of her death. Both Jakob and Margaretha remained strong in the Lutheran faith all of their lives and are buried at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, in Fisherville, Ont.
