Jacobus and his brother Moses were much attached. They were known to sit whole nights in close religious conversation. When together they even neglected urgent business for brotherly intercourse.

3. ↑ His will was recorded at N.Y. Surrogate, Book 23, p. 510, dated 22 Jul 1756 and proved 21 Aug 1762. It mentions wife Sara, eldest son Jacobus, sons Ephraim, Benjamin, Daniel, Joseph, Cornelis, and Jacob, daughter Antje, widow of Benjamin, and grandson Jacobus. Son Jacob was underage, and grandson Jacobus under 12 at the time the will was written.
