BURIAL: "Jacob Young son John and Mary Young died March 16th 1850 in the 58th year of his age." The above information was found on a tombstone uncovered on the grounds of the Easton Area Public Library, Northampton, PA, along with 2 other tombstones: "Susan Ripple, daughter of John and Maria Young died July 20th 1895 aged 51 years." "Margaret Y., wife of Abraham Bidleman died February 11th 1865 Aged 74 years 8 months and 25 days."

If no heirs make a claim to the tombstones after 3 weeks of advertising,

the tombstones will be donated to the Northampton County [PA] Historical & Genealogical Society.

The library had been built on a burial ground for the First Reformed

Church, now called the First United Church of Christ. When the library acquired the site in 1902, the cemetery was filled to capacity and its grounds neglected...

Using the list of plot holders, the library wrote heirs telling them they could re-inter the bodies to other cemeteries. Most did, but about 30 bodies were never claimed or found...
