He married Anne Derrow, daughter of William and Ann Derrow (Dorrough), on 21 Sep 1830 in Rockingham County, Virginia; she was born 06 Jan 1803 in Augusta County, Virginia; died 06 Jul 1860 in Stony Run (Naked Creek area), Page County, Virginia.
After marriage in 1830, Jacob and Anne Secrist, moved about 25 miles northeast of his parent's home to an area of Rockingham County that became Page County, Virginia in 1831. Oak Grove United Methodist Church now stands on the land that Jacob and Anne purchased.
