    Will of "Jacob Goodell of Danvers ... yeoman", dated 11 Sep 1773, proved 5 Oct 1773, names wife Hannah; son Jacob; eldest daughter Phebe [under 18]; second daughter Hannah; third daughter Hitte; fourth daughter Betty; fifth daughter Sally. Wife to be executrix.
    4 Nov 1773: Inventory of the estate of Mr Jacob Goodale late of Danvers Deceased. Sworn to 7 Dec 1773 by Hannah Goodale.
    4 Jun 1776: Account of Hannah Goodale Ex'x of the last Will & Testam't of Jacob Goodale late of Danvers dec'd., include payment to "Will'm Goodell a Legacy given in his father's Will which the said deceased was ordered to pay", and to "Ezra Upton & Mehetabel Upton a Legacy given her ["s'd Eliz'a" interlined, ?possibly? referring to "Eliz'a Pool adm'x on Estate of William Pool dec'd"] in her Fathers Will which the s'd deceased was ordered to pay.

  4.   Source:Vinton, John Adams. Upton Memorial, p. 96, says Hannah Upton [#101] m. "Jacob Goodell, son of James and Phebe Goodell of Danvers". The only James and Phebe Goodell seen in the records is Jacob's daughter who married her step-brother James long after Jacob had died. This appears to be an error by Vinton. One need look no further than Hannah Upton to see that the name Phebe used for their oldest daughter is Hannah's mother's name. Naming a daughter Hitte (short for Mehitable), though, suggests Jacob parents are Jacob Goodale and Mehitable Brown.
