David mustered into the Union Army as a Private on 30 Oct, 1862. He was a Farrier in Company I, PA 18th Cavalry. David's death is listed as both 24 January and 24 June 1864. In one account he is killed at St. Mary's Church, Virginia. In another account, he died of smallpox at Rappahannock Station, Rappahannock, Virginia.
