"Little Jacob Baker" is mentioned by John Woodhull in his letter of August 14, 1776 as "Mr. Porter's drummer boy."

Robert McCurdy, Captain of the Leacock Company of John Boyd's 7th Battalion, certified January 18, 1778 that Jacob Baker had served as a drummer for 46 days at Northwales Camp.
