Jack P. Hipskind, 82, of the Locksprings community near Osgood, passed away Friday, February 6, 2004 at the Decatur Memorial Hospital in Greensburg. He was born at Wabash, Indiana on March 9, 1921 the son of Ernest and Emma Lochmann Hipskind. He was married to Iva Fern Bultman on May 18, 1991 and she survives. Other survivors include one son, Terry Hipskind and his wife Linda of Tuscon; daughters Yolanda Kuta and her husband Alan of Warsaw, Indiana, and Deborah Carpenter and husband Randy of Seymour; step-sons Lynn Bultman and Mary of St.Charles, MO, Lyle Bultman and Akiko of Shanghai, China; one step-daughter Irish Stockard and Jim of San Antonio, Texas; one sister, Gladys Holycross of Urbana, Indiana; ten grandchildren, nine great-grand, and three step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wives Laura Beamer Hipskind and Jean Haupert Hipskind, grandson Aaron P. Hatfield, brothers Hilton and Arnold Hipskind and his sister Loretta Adams. Mr. Hipskind was an Army veteran of WWII where he served as a paratrooper. He was a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church and was also an avid square dancer. He was a retired commercial electrician for Kuntz-Wagner in South Bend retiring in 1983. Funeral services will be Monday, February 9th at 11am at the Hopewell Baptist Church with Rev. David Shivers officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, February 8th from 3pm to 6pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles and from 10am until time of services at the church. Graveside services will be held at 12pm Tuesday, February 10th at the Oakwood Cemetery in Warsaw, Indiana. Memorials may be given to the Hopewell Baptist Church building fund.
