Facts and Events
[edit] Personal History[edit] Israel Kepler (1807-1886)Israel was born in Rockland, Pennsylvania (north of Pittsburgh) the fifth of seven children of Johannes Keppler and Elisabeth Kaag. His parents were born in Germany, had their first child there, then moved to America. Apparently they returned to Germany in their later life where they both died. He has at least two patents to his name in the corn processing area for a Corn Sheller and Improvement on Smut Machines. By contrast, an amusing anecdote recalled by his great-grandson, Joseph Kepler Murdock, was that per a family friend, George Wilkins, Israel Kepler's job was a mystery in his hometown. He would often disappear for weeks. Around town, the phrase "work'n for Kepler" meant you were loafing. Source is from research done by Lucius Boardman Donkle Jr. (1922-2009) in the 1990s but without leaving source documentation and from memories of Joseph Kepler Murdock (1898-1985), his father-in-law.
