- Source:Reed, Jacob Whittemore. History of the Reed Family in Europe and America, p. 68, says that Israel, s/o Israel and Jemima, b. 19 Dec 1768 m. Mary and had Herman, Augustus, William and Henry. This is an error, as the marriage to Mary/Mercy Davis in 1784 was clearly the father, and the named children belong to that marriage, as do the Marcy, Betty and John Reed not named by Reed. The birthdates of Marcy and Betty are too early to be children of a man b. 1768, showing that this is not his family, but his father's.
