    "Mr. Israel Davis, son of Lieut. Simon Davis on Dec. 11, 1739, was married to Mary, daughter of Capt. Hubbard, by whom he had born, Mary, Israel, Hannah, Paul, second Paul, and Esther. Mr. Davis bought and lived on a farm for several years bounded on Holden, which he sold to Daniel Bartlett; - bought and removed on to a hill one mile West of Holden meeting-house, where he and his son Paul for many years kept a tavern, noted for its regularity and kind attention to the weary traveller."
