  2. Pickering News.

from the Pickering News of 18 June 1920 (Greenwood):

Death removed on May 30 one of the oldest residents of this village in the person of Isabella Fisher. The late Mrs. Fisher was the eldest daughter of the late William Sadler, a pioneer of this township. She with her husband, the late Samuel Fisher, lived in Brooklin for some time until an accident caused the latter's death. Mrs. Fisher, then, with her little family of six children came back to this village where she remained until some four years ago when the infirmities of old age forced her to live with her daughter, Mrs. H. M. Sadler. Being left a widow at an early age she had the responsibility of raising her family with very little financial means at her command. She gave them a good common school education and when they grew up, like many families they left their parental home, married, and settled in homes of their own, three of them settling in Deer Lodge, Montana, the youngest remaining in this neighbourhood. Of the family only two survive, Mrs. W. N. Alysworth, of Deer Lodge, and Mrs H. M. Sadler at whose home she had unremitting and tender care from her niece and nephews throughout her late illness. The late Mrs Fisher never mingled in society, was scarcely ever out of her own home, yet few people had as many friends. Many a man and woman scattered over our fair Dominion tell their children of the wonderful hospitality of Mrs. Fisher and of the pleasant hours spent in her little home on the hills. Her great love for children, music and flowers kept her young and at her advanced age she retained all her mental faculties. One of her last requests, when some of her young friends came to see her, was "Play and sing for me." The funeral service was conducted by Rev. H. Wilkinson, after which the remains were conveyed to Salem, followed by many friends and neighbors anxious to show their last tribute of respect to the deceased.
