XVI. Sir William, who succeeded him, and got a charter under the great seal, Willielmo Sinclair de Roslin militia, terrarium baronia de Roslin, etc. etc. in the shires of Edinburgh and Stirling, dated 25th April 1542.
Also, a charter of the lands and barony of Pentland, dated in May the said year 1542.
He married Isabel, daughter of Sir Walter Ker of Cessford, progenitor of the duke of Roxburgh, (omitted in the Peerage, page 594,) and by her had two sons.
1. Edward, his heir.
2. Sir William, who carried on the line of this family, of whom afterwards.
He died in the end of the reign of Queen Mary, and was succeeded by his eldest son,
Edward XVII who died before his father, unmarried.
Then the family was succeeded by the younger son, Sir William XVII.
