Facts and Events
"Was a soldier in 1715 at the 'Mannor house' in Livingston Manor, and in 1720 was a freeholder in the section known as 'Coxhaucky and Catskills'. Nothing further is known of his history or whether he had a family. It is possible, however, judging from similarity of names that he was the father of Jan Spoor, of Athens, N.Y." From The Spoor Family in America
ancestor of the Egremont Massachusetts branch of the family
Early records of this branch of the family are more scattered than those of any of the sons of Johannes Spoor. The burning of the town records of Egremont, Massachusetts, in 1850 doubtless destroyed much information regarding the early members of this branch of the family.
He is reported to have lived in Egremont, Massachusetts, at the first town meeting held in 1761 he was elected selectman. He is said to have lived after 1790 and to be buried at Greenbush, New York
