'Isaac Schantz [son of Jacob and Magdalena Schantz], b. 14 Jan 1748. d. 11 Oct 1802. He married Barbara Reiff (12 Sep 1753-1820). His sons Christian and Jacob went to Waterloo, Ontario. He was an Elder in the Mennonite church and was of New Hanover Township in 1802. He was taxed at New Hanover Township, Montgomery County in 1780. He would not bear arms in the war in 1784.'

    - 1 free white male 16 and over
    - 5 free white females
    - 5 free white males under 16

Three of the females were his wife and daughters Mary and Veronica. One of the additional females could have been his mother, who, if alive, would have been a widow. The other could have been a niece or other relative, or a servant. See also the 1800 census.

    - 1 free white male 45 and over
    - 1 free white female 45 and over
    - 1 free white female 16 to 25
    - 1 free white male 10 to 15
    - 1 free white female 10 to 15
    - 1 free white male under 10

The 3 youngest children match David, Veronica and Joseph. Since daughter Mary was already married by this time, it is unlikely that she was the female aged 16 to 25. This additional female, probably one of the five females in the 1790 census, was born between 1775 and 1784, and thus does not easily fit into the family. She may have been a niece or other relative, or a servant.
