Isaac Mungle was born in Washington County, Virginia April 01, 1788. Heand his family d eparted Washington County, Virginia in approximately 1796 to claim a government land grant in middle Tennessee. In 1783, his father, Daniel, received a land grant from North Carolina, for 640 acres in, what was then, Davidson County, Tennessee. Later, the total grant was divided into Smith County, and Macon County. The Mungle land grant was located on "Middle Fork of Goose Creek. Isaac, married Ellenor Britten(Nelly) about 1813 in Tennessee. They lived united for 31 years.

To this union, seven (7) children were born--
    William,
    John,
    Andrew,
    Allen,
    Ruth,
    Malinda,
    Sarah.

In 1844, Isaac asked Ellenor (Nelly) to accompany him to Missouri to homestead more land. Ellenor refused to leave Tennessee. Isaac, thinking that Ellenor's refusal to accompany him constituted grounds for divorce, made legal arrangements for her maintenance and left for Missouri on August 3, 1844.
