    "… Capt. Isaac Merriam, born May [March] 27, 1737, at Wallingford; died April 17, 1825, at Watertown; son of Joseph and Deborah (Royce) Merriam. Isaac Merriam was ensign in Capt. Jesse Curtiss's Company at Peekskill in Jan., 1778, and later captain. He was one of the committee appointed by the town to provide clothing for the soldiers. Residence Westbury parish, now Watertown."
