Being an aggressive loyalist he was imprisoned in Phila., 1776, but escaped to Eng. ; was ordained to the ministry (Ch. of Eng.) and became tutor to the Hon. Mr. Leigh, nephew of the Duke of Chandos.
Some years before his death he became a Unitarian.
He was the father of Leigh Hunt the poet.
