He was called Isaac of North End to distinguish him from his cousin Isaac, son of Thomas & Mary Halsey. The latter Isaac was married to Hannah Stratton and Mary Hudson. (Descendants of Edward Howell...2nd)

21) Phebe Howell, daughter of Edward & Mary (Fordham) Howell, was born say 1669. She was married to Isaac Halsey, son of Isaac & Mary (Barnes) Halsey. He was born about 1665 and was presumably the widower of her cousin Abigail Howell (see 16). The will of her father, Edward Howell of Southampton in his will dated 4 Aug 1697 did 'give & bequeath to my daughter Phebe Halsey five pound current pay to be paid her out of my estate at my decease' (ELIW:188). The 1698 census listed Isaac, Isaac Jur, Isaac Ters, Joshua, Thomas, Samuel, Mary, Elizabeth and Pheby, respectively the father of this Isaac, then Isaac, his young son Isaac, his three brothers, his mother Mary, sister Elizabeth and wife Phebe, between by the households of Ephraim White and Samuel Johnes. In the 1700 Estimate, Isaac Halsey Jr., was assessed at forth pounds and ten shillings. In the 1736 parish rate, Isaac Halsey, Jr. and son are assessed at 69 pounds, 9 shillings and 4 pence, and son Joseph separately at a6 pounds, 2 shillings and tuppence. The gravestone of Isaac Halsey at Northend burying ground, Southampton, was inscribed: In Memory / Mr Isaac Halsey / who died March / ye 23d 1752 in ye / 88th Year of / his Age (LIE 5:153). The will of Isaac Halsey, dated 16 Oct 1750, named his wife Phebe, with sons John and Jonah as executors. His sons Isaac and Job predeceased him.
