In Westerly, R. I., March 26th, 1880, after a brief sickness, Dea. Isaac C. Burdick, in the 72d year of his age. Bro. Burdick was the son of the late Ichabod Burdick, of Hopkinton, was born in Hopkinton August 29th., 1808, and, with the exception of two or three years, spent his whole life in that town and in Westerly. In early life, he made a public profession of religion, and united with the Second Hopkinton Seventh-day Baptist Church, of which he was afterward called to serve as deacon. In 1848, having removed to Westerly, he united with the Pawcatuck Seventh-day Baptist Church in that village, of which he remained a worthy and faithful member until removed to the church above. A faithful companion, one son, and two daughters, have gone on before him, while one son in Brookfield, N. Y., and four sons and one daughter in Westerly, remain behind to mourn their loss. The high place which Bro. Burdick held in the esteem of his acquaintances is indicated by the number who came, despite a stormy day, to join in solemn funeral rites over the remains of him whom they had known so long, loved so well. A sermon was preached by his pastor, from Psa. 73: 24, "Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory."
