Facts and Events
This page is a theory that attempts to explain an unreadable gravestone that makes no sense. The dates in the transcribed inscription show what they appear to be from the photograph, but as the memorial page says, Charles' dates match no known child, specifically, not the Charles that died young. As noted on Philbrook's page, since he was buried elsewhere (Warwick), this may be a centotaph, hence perhaps erected many years later when details were fuzzy, given that there were apparently no records to go on. So it is assumed, based on intentions in Jan 1822, that a child was born in Dec 1822 and died weeks later, and this is the same as the infant who died in 1823, while the Charles who was b. 1824 and d. 1825 and has his own stone, has been mistakenly represented here with the infant's dates, due to this confusion.
