dies at age 103

BAXTER SPRINGS, Kan. _ Ida Payne, 103, formerly of Baxter Springs, died Sunday, Feb. 1, 1998, at a Vinita, Okla. nursing home after a long illness.

Mrs. Payne was born Feb. 3, 1894, in Maysville, Ark. She had been a patient in the nursing home for a year moving from Baxter Springs. Mrs. Payne moved to Baxter Springs in 1953 from Hockerville, Okla. She was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Baxter Springs, Kan.

She married John Payne on April 8, 1929, in Girard. He died on April 1, 1950.

There are no immediate survivors.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Hillcrest Cemetery in Galena. The Rev. Wayne Williams will officiate.

The family will be at the home of Thelma Couch, 828 Wyandotte, Baxter Springs.

Funeral services are under direction of Derfelt's Baxter Chapel, Baxter Springs.
