  4. Source:Wright, Henry Parks. Soldiers of Oakham, Massachusetts in the Revolutionary War, the War of 1812, and the Civil War, p. 119, says Ichabod was "Born in Bradgewater, August 1, 1738, son of George and Mary (Edson) Packard". Since the gravestone says 1738, he may have gotten this from one of Ichabod's descendants, but it is impossible. The probate of his father, George, was opened 22 Apr 1736, and he was baptized as a child of Mary a widow in June 1736. If 1 August is correct, the latest possible year would be 1735.
