Humphrey William Hyde was my grandfather who retired to Ceylon from India where he worked for the British administration as a public works inspector lastly in Madras (Chennai) in South India. He married Winifred Murphy born in India of Irish descent in Palaveram, India and had 9 children of whom my father Hector Roderick Hyde was the youngest. My father died in 1988 and my grandmother around 1937. They are both buried in the family plot in the catholic cemetery in Nuwara Eliya, Sri Lanka.

I live in Perth, Australia.
