NOTES; I had lost this family, but had no idea that they could be i West VA. Not much doubt that this is the correct person, same DoB, Same wife, only variation is he spells his first name Hulie not Huley Hulie Clayton Nix 9 Aug 1881 White Not Stated, Logan, WV Huley Clayton Nix , Born 9 Aug 1881 was the son of Rev John Kelly Nix and Lucy Tingley Thompson of Blount County, Alabama. And the grandson of Jennings Nix and his second wife , Temperance (Tempy) Poole Ellison. He married Nellie Dorcus Barker on 6 July 1913 and they both dropped into a dark hole, behind a solid brick wall never to be heard from again. I was also able to find that Lucy was the daughter of Jackson Terrell Thompson. He was born in Pendleton, South Carolina but moved to Blount County where he married Martha Elizabeth Dickson, they both died in Blount County. I even found her two sets of grandparents, but nothing lead to the newly married couple. Not until now! This draft registration card is a true brick wall buster. I looked at the name on the list several times before I opened it. Why, well the first name is spelled slightly different, he gave no place of birth, and I was positive that I was not kin to any of the NIX families in West Virginia! But there is no doubt that this is my family! At age 37 he was working in Whitmans, Logan County, West Virginia as the Y.M.C.A. Secretary and Assistant Post Master for the Island Creek Coal Company. It sounds like this may have been a "Company Town". From his job description and from looking at his handwriting you can tell that he was more educated than the average farmer in my Nix line. The physical description on the card is; height - 5'9", Build - stout, Eyes - black, Hair - black.
