At a very young age, Genevieve left the family farm to follow her dream of attending dance school in New York City. For thirteen years, she attended school and danced off Broadway, which turned out to be the highlight of her life. In 1943, her three sisters and she decided to venture west to Long Beach, CA. Shortly thereafter, Genevieve met Howard Kavanaugh and they were married in 1944. Genevieve and Howard settled in Menlo Park in 1947 and raised five children. She is survived by her two sisters, Irene and Beth, her daughter Patricia Richter (John), and three sons, Ross Kavanaugh (Marilyn), Daniel Kavanaugh (Helga) and Michael Kavanaugh (Monica), twelve grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Howard in 1960 and her son Harvey in 1984. She will be greatly missed by her niece Sandra, her loving friends at Senior Friendship Day, her pinochle group and friends from the Church of the Nativity, where she had been a member for over 55 years. Genevieve was a strong and independent woman whose pastimes included travel, playing pinochle, crafts and garage sales. She loved her home and rose garden, where you could find her most of the time. This lovely lady will be deeply missed by all those who were touched by her beautiful energy, grace and loving nature.
