D W Remine ...is the third of seven children born to Hiram and Nancy (Bays) Remine, natives of Virginia. He was a soldier in the late war, and was captured and detained in Castle Thunder, Libby, Abingdon, Jonesboro, Greeneville and Knoxville prisons on account of his views on Abolitionism, he being a pronounced Abolitionist, and very bold in declaring his views. Three of his sons were soldiers in the United States Army. He is a son of William H. Remine, a native of Tazewell County, Va., and was a stock dealer and distiller.
