Facts and Events
Mr. Howard was one of the few sons of Thomas and Pricilla, who was not engaged in the tanning of leather, or in the making it up into boots, shoes, harness, or other articles. He was by occupation a farmer, though to a limited extent. He at least raised a crop of useful and enterprising sons, who aided him in his labors in their younger life, and cheerfully contributed to his support in his unusually protracted life of 94 years, 5 months, and 16 days. On his marriage he settled in Franklin, N.Y. In 1815 he moved to Preble, Cortland Co., N.Y., where he remained some four years, and then returned to Franklin, where he remained till 1834, shen he removed to Burton, Cattaraugus Co., N.Y., and subsequently to Randolph, Crawford Co., Pa. After the death of his wife he made his home with his children, chiefly with Martha, and his son Ira E. at whose house in Franklin, Pa., he died, apparently without disease, simply of old age. -The Howard Genealogy, by Jarvis Cutler Howard.
