"29. 'Ensign' Hezekiah4 Clark (George,3 George,2 George1), baptized at Milford, Conn., Sept. 1, 1723, died circa 1776; … Hezekiah Clark was made Ensign of the 16th Co., 2nd Regt., Connecticut Militia, in October, 1767 [Conn. Col. Rec. 12:614]. John Lines was made Captain, and Timothy Ball, Lieutenant, of this company at the same time. Their names identify the company as belonging to Bethany parish. … Administration on the estate of Hezekiah Clark, late of New Haven, was granted to his widow Mary, the first Monday in November, 1776, and she filed an inventory, Dec. 2, 1776. The inventory calls him 'Ensign.' The net estate was small and the Court ordered a third set to the widow, and 'to each of the 8 Youngest Children,' £2.11.6. [N. H. P. 12:140, 148, 228.]"
