"***HERMANUS KESTER, the son of Johannes and Elizabeth (Cassel) Koster, was born 2, 11th month 1703 [Jan 1704]. Abington Monthly Meeting granted Hermanus a certificate to join Buckingham Monthly Meeting 28, 6th month 1732. The 5, 7th month 1732 he was received at Buckingham MM and granted a certificate to Chesterfield MM in Burlington County, NJ. Hermanus located at Kingwood, Hunterdon Co, NJ before 1733. He married Anne Large in 1733 at the Chesterfield Monthly Meeting. Anne was born 29, 3rd month 1712. Hermanus raised some of Paul Kester's (2.6) small children after Paul died between 1745-1750. These children were William [2.6.1], Rebecca [2.6.2], and John [2.6.3] Kester. A tax list for Kingwood Township in May 1778 shows Hermanus as having 60 acres, 2 horses, 3 cows, 1 pig and being exempt (which probably meant from military duty as Hermanus and his family were Quakers). In January/February 1780 he was listed as owning 5 pigs."

"4. ***HERMANUS KOSTER, or Herman Kister, son of Johannes and Elizabeth Koster of Germantown was born 11 Jan 1703 and married Ann ____. From the Records of the Abington, Philadelphia Monthly Meeting, 28th of 6 mo. 1732, we find that "A certificate was granted to Harman Kuster in order to join himself to Friends of Buckingham Monthly Meeting." The minutes of the Buckingham and Wrightstown Monthly Meeting for 7 mo. 5, 1732 show that his certificate from Abington was accepted, and that at the same meeting he requested a certificate to the Chesterfield Monthly Meeting. Buckingham Meeting was in Bucks County, PA, and Chesterfield Meeting was across the river in Burlington County, NJ. We next find Herman on the records of the Kingwood (or as it was later known Quakertown) Monthly Meeting, in Hunterdon County, NJ. It was here that ***HERMAN KESTER (the form of spelling this family adopted) permanently settled. His wife, whose surname is unknown, was probably from NJ."

"Johannes Kusters married Elizabeth Cassel in 1702 and became a Quaker that same year. His two brothers, Arnold and Hermanus, were Mennonites. Johannes' children were John, Margaret, Reiner, ***HERMAN, Arnold, Abigal, Samuel, Dorothy, and Charity. Johannes was the son of Paulas Kuster.
